NFL Roundup: Denver Edge Hapless Jets in Defensive Affair
During a low-scoring contest this weekend, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the hard-fought win.
Dominant Performance Seals Game
Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following conceding a two-point play in the third quarter. Remarkably, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards during the entire game.
Nix, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's 27-yard kick with approximately five minutes left.
Historic Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their horrendous performance, the Jets still had possession with a chance to score a possible winning score. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn chose to go for it instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
The Jets quarterback had difficulties all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York finished with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented following the contest.
