Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
