An aircraft soaring over a popular southern California beach suddenly commenced twirling uncontrollably, finally losing altitude and smashing into a line of palm groves as spectators looked on.

Recordings shared online capture the helicopter beginning to twirl near the shoreline then falling towards the perimeter of the beach, where it ends up lodged amidst palm trees and a staircase near the Pacific Coast highway.

Rescue Operation Information

Local firefighters reported five individuals were rushed to the hospital comprising two who were in the aircraft and were “rescued from the debris” after the incident on that day.

Three persons on the road were injured. Information on their injuries were not yet released.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation.
